Providing medical treatment and nutritional support for Tuberculosis patients
Four-year-old Anju Baiga presented at Ganiyari Hospital was detected with a severe case of tuberculosis. One of the major reasons for her condition was malnourishment because of her family’s economic condition. Through the provision of nutritional supplements and extensive treatment received in JSS, Anju is now healthy. |

Impact:
- Medical and nutritional care for around 50 patients a year.
- Advocacy work done by JSS led to the government of Chhattisgarh providing extra food supplements to patients with chronic diseases. In addition, the ministry has agreed to conduct a pilot program for a daily treatment regimen in 100 districts.
- In 2014, the Partnership for Tuberculosis Care and Control in India , awarded JSS with “Tuberculosis Champion” for our comprehensive tuberculosis care and advocacy efforts.
