MILAN 2023
The Annual Donor Appreciation Event by AID Bay Area
Saturday, Nov 18, 11:00 am PDT
The Bay Area chapter of the Association for India's Development (AID) is thrilled to announce that acclaimed journalist P. Sainath will be speaking at our annual fundraiser this year, Milan 2023.
In a 43-year career as a journalist, Sainath – the former Rural Editor of the Hindu – has won over 60 global and national awards for his reporting (and turned down several, including the Padma Bhushan because, in his view, journalists should not be receiving awards from governments they cover and critique). His latest project, the People’s Archive of Rural India (PARI), aims at capturing the 'everyday lives of everyday people' – their labour, languages, livelihoods, arts, crafts and many other aspects of rural India.
The event will be held over lunch at 11 AM on Saturday, November 18, in the parish hall at Christ Episcopal Church, Los Altos (1040 Border Road, Los Altos, CA).
We are also happy to share that we will be joined by Somnath – an AID Development Coordinator with a twin focus of strengthening organizational processes within AID and to connect, work with and learn from marginalized communities in India.
We'd be delighted if you could join us for this very special event. We strongly encourage you RSVP as soon as possible as we expect the
venue to fill to capacity.
Please feel free to share this invitation with friends and colleagues. Please also do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
