 Run for India 2025

Run for India is a USA-wide 10K/Full/Half-marathon training and fundraising program organized by the Association for India's Development (AID). In its 17th year, AID Bay Area's Run for India (BARFI) program provides a 4 months' training – this year, for the SF Giants Race (Half Marathon / 10k) in August. The training is provided by experienced coaches and runners. Participation needs no prior running experience.

What to expect ?

This year, we are training for the SF Giants Race (Half Marathon / 10k), which is held in August. The training will start in March lasting 4-5 months.

The training program is designed to help both novice and experienced runners. We provide nutritional guidance, advice on injury-free running, stretching/yoga and training for foam-rolling. Most of our runs are on stroller-friendly trails.

Fundraising for AID

Picture
AID Bay Area supports 20+ projects all over India. We hope to raise support for about 10 projects through Run for India program. We ask each runner for a commitment to raise a minimum of $500.

We help you with:
  • Creating personalized runner pages on Run for India platform
  • Sending Emails with templates and guidance for social media posts for fundraising
  • Connecting  to our projects and meeting with project partners who are visiting Bay Area

Note: While many of us who currently volunteer with AID joined as runners, and we would love you to be part of our chapter, there is no formal expectation from runners to participate in AID activities.

Where and when do we train ?

We train on scenic trails in several local parks in Bay Area from Campbell to Hillsdale to Los Altos. We organize a weekend morning long run and a weekday evening short run. Smaller groups self organize other runs locally.

Our training program makes sure you are prepared for the small hills in San Francisco and whatever weather you may encounter on the day of the race! Watch the above video to see our training in action!

Running gear

Running is the fitness activity requiring minimum gear. For new runners, we recommend that you get good running shoes. A few weeks into the training, we will organize a shoe clinic that will also include discount coupon for shoes. We also provide you with a race day active wear t-shirt as shown above.
