Aruna Roy
Aruna Roy is a prominent crusader for participatory democracy and accountability of public programs across India. She co-founded the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (MKSS) and helped make India’s Right to Information (RTI) Act a reality. Aruna Roy has been at the forefront of a number of campaigns for the rights of the poor and the marginalized. These have included, most prominently, the Right to Information, the Right to Work (NREGA), and the Right to Food. She was a member of the National Advisory Council till 2006. In 2000, she received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership and in 2011, she was named as one of the hundred most influential people in the world by Time magazine.
Kamayani Swami is an AID Jeevansaathi, a labor organizer and human rights activist. She works for the welfare and empowerment of agricultural and other unorganized-sector labor workers in the rural communities of Araria and Katihar districts in Bihar. Kamayani's work has been instrumental in initiating regular audits of government work and involving the common people in the implementation and monitoring of government schemes.

Somnath is a Development Coordinator at AID. An AID volunteer since 2002, Somnath has an active interest in organic and sustainable agriculture. His efforts have helped over 25,000 farmers in the Sunderbans in West Bengal adopt sustainable, organic agriculture methods. He helped start an organic farmers market in Kolkata at which farmers from surrounding areas sell their produce directly in exchange for fair prices.
